Soul to Soul vs. Role to Role
10 Steps to Raising a Conscious Family
By Annie Burnside
This one shift in perspective transforms all interactions with others. In other words, it becomes not parent to child, but Soul to Soul. It becomes not neighbor to neighbor, but Soul to Soul. It becomes not waitress to customer, but Soul to Soul. This shift is a simple choice that we have in every interaction with another. It is not an outer religious concept, but rather an inner spiritual experience. Speak this way in your home.
Step 2 – A Weekly Family Discussion
This creates the atmosphere for consistently peeling back the outer layers of the physical body, the ego and societal norms and talking spirit. This is our own family conversation about life. We document in a family spiritual journey the topic, date and highlights of what was shared. We trust our inner voices to guide us to all different types of topics. We've discussed seeing God everywhere, we are all one and prayer. I foresee down the road our discussing financial responsibility, sexuality and holistic health. The possibilities are truly endless. Step 3 – Creating a Sacred Space in Your Home for Contemplation of the Divine
For us, that's the comfy annex of our bedroom. We have created our own little spiritual altar with things that are special to our spirits. We also have a prayer box that we created together as a family. Pens, paper and classical music are available in this sacred space. It is a quiet place where anyone is free to journal, meditate or read. Step 4 – Creating Some of Your Own Family Spiritual Rituals
We wrote a new grace for our family that we now say before sharing a meal together. Another family ritual is a loving reminder of spirit from me to each child before he or she ventures out into the larger world for school and activities. For example, I often say, "Expect the Best!" They know that this means stay positive and expect the best that the universe has to offer. Speak the same spiritual language every day. Want to see more?
