Pilates After Pregnancy
How to Get a Fit Belly with Baby
By Lyn Mettler
(Pilates Pregnancy, 2003), recommends "Curls." "This exercise tones your arms and chest while allowing you to play peek-a-boo and near/far with your baby," says Picot.
To do "Curls," start standing up with your feet hip-width apart while holding your baby. Keep your bellybutton glued to your spine. With your arms bent and close to your body, place your hands underneath your baby's armpits. Inhale and lower your baby a few inches, and exhale and curl him back up. Do four times.
Inhale to prepare to exhale as you bring your baby in line with your face. Inhale to return to the starting position. Do four times.
Exhale. Inhale as you take your baby a small distance in front of your chest away from your body. Exhale to bring him back. Do four times.
Carefully change your hold on your baby and give him a hug. Thank him for all his help!
