Five Weeks to a New You

Give Yourself a Makeover

What if you could do a makeover on yourself? If you can commit to a mere five weeks, you can begin to make the changes that will alter not only your looks, but also your life.

The Makeover Attitude
Making lifestyle changes takes more than just a willing attitude. It takes commitment, passion and accountability. The first thing you should do is to buy a journal and begin writing in it daily. Creating a journal habit is a powerful way to create a lasting catalyst for change.

Terra Wellington, certified wellness expert and television broadcaster, believes the best makeovers begin inside. "How you feel about yourself and your life is the most important part of a personal makeover," Wellington says. "If you feel good about how you take care of yourself, then you will naturally gravitate toward activities, attitudes and vocations that will make you happy."

Wellington offers the following tips to help you get started on your five-week makeover:

  • Figure out what is most important in your life. Do some self-discovery work to determine what is most important in your life, what takes priority and what you can do to simplify your life.
  • Reduce your stress. Immediate stress-reducing activities include adding more aerobic exercise to your daily routine, drinking more water, breathing deeply, writing in your journal, focusing on being grateful and de-cluttering your home or office.
  • Renew your friendships and family ties. Our self-worth can be encouraged and lifted through positive friendships and family relationships.
